1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh lemon zest
1 or 2 tablespoon dried lavender flowers

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Whisk or beat in the egg, lemon juice until well blended. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, lemon zest, and lavender. Add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture and blend together to form a soft ball. Drop by teaspoon onto a nonstick lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 12-14 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned. I was able to get about 24 cookies out of this batch.

Winter Itch Salve

When the temperatures drop and the snow starts falling Mr Chainsaw aka the hubby gets the winter itch. We have tried all sorts of lotions and salves but nothing worked til I started making my own. Now he asks for it every winter and it really helps keep the itch away.

4 Tablespoons grated beeswax
2 Tablespoons coconut oil
1/2 cup olive oil or sweet almond oil (can be infused with lavendar)
4 capsules Vitamin E oil
20 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops tea tree oil

Fill the bottom of a double boiler with water and bring to the boil. In the top, combine to beeswax, coconut oil and olive or almond oil and vitamin E oil. Allow to melt and stir to combine. Add the essential oils and stir again.
Pour into container and allow to cool completely before closing.
